Welcome To Troop 998 Web Page!

Welcome to the website of Boy Scout Troop 998, chartered in Pleasanton, CA, by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (V.F.W.) Post #6298. We have been serving the youth of Pleasanton for over 49 years, putting the Outing in Scouting, through community service, camping in the great outdoors, and allowing our youth to learn by example through the leadership of our youth. We develop responsible and capable youth through camping, adventure, learning and most importantly, through fun and friendship.

Board of Review- Parent Volunteers Needed- Sign up below

Posted by jdpeters on Jul 26 2014 - 8:18am

Board of Reviews are an essential part of the advancement process in scouting, especially after summer camp. If we do not have enough parents at each BOR session then boys will begin to miss advancement opportunities.

Please sign up, mark your calendars and take 90 minutes to help the scouts continue their journey

Board of Reviews allow the scout an opportunity to share their experiences and what they have learned with the adult community.

It also allows them the opportunity to discuss the troop and how it works and give his feedback on any changes he might suggest.

For the adults, Board of Reviews are a window into what the boys are learning and how scouting can impact their lives.

It helps us stay in touch with what our boys are doing and why both the scout and the parents are committed to the Boy Scout program.

As a reminder, the Board of Review process involves 3 adults meeting with the scout and asking a series of provided, prepared, open-ended questions.  The  purpose of the Board of Review is:

·        To make sure the scout has completed the requirements for the rank.
·        To learn about the experience the scout is having in the unit.
·        To encourage the scout to progress further

This is a great chance to see the progress the scouts are making.

We will do our best to group new and experienced parents together.

We will take a few minutes before each review session to review the process so if you have never participated in Board of Review or you are veteran we need you!
