Welcome To Troop 998 Web Page!

Welcome to the website of Boy Scout Troop 998, chartered in Pleasanton, CA, by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (V.F.W.) Post #6298. We have been serving the youth of Pleasanton for over 50 years, putting the Outing in Scouting, through community service, camping in the great outdoors, and allowing our youth to learn by example through the leadership of our youth. We develop responsible and capable youth through camping, adventure, learning and most importantly, through fun and friendship.

Volunteer opportunity

Posted by hpeters on Jul 11 2015 - 9:08am

URGENT!  We still need your help finding more volunteers to staff our Twin ValleyWebelos Day Camps July 20th-24th .  We need everyone, especially youth 15-17 and adults over 18. We need Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Venturers, pack/troop/den leaders, parents, grandparents, and anyone else who is willing and able to spend the week in the sun having fun with a bunch of excited boys (and their siblings!.) Staff registration information can be found at this website https://cubcampingvolunteer.shutterfly.com/ or call call Karen Stevens

We also need someone who is 21 or over and has first aid and CPR training to handle the First Aid station.  This can be shared job with another qualified person throughout the week so the same person does not have to work the entire week.

Yosemite community service project

Posted by hpeters on Jun 20 2015 - 12:34pm

Dates: July 31 - August 2

Where: Hodgdon Meadows (HWY 120 west entrance to the park) Yosemite National Park

Description: For many summers now, Troop 998 has been participating in a community service project in Yosemite. Volunteers will clean out campground and picnic area fire pits and grills as well as perform general campground cleanup work.  They will be shoveling ash and debris, which may be hot, and carrying the ash and other litter by bucket to a collection point for disposal. With over 1,400 campsites in Yosemite in use nearly every night from April through September, a lot of ash gets produced in all those fire rings, and trash gets left behind in bear boxes.

This is a family event, so food and transportation is up to the family. Please RSVP to Lisa Brown, noelle12399@comcast.net
